Dress Does Not Make A Man Great Story
Sheikh Saadi was a famous poet in Iran. He used to lead a normal and simple life. One day, on the way to the royal court of Iran, he took refuge in a noble family.
In order to move in general, he used to wear an ordinary dress. As he wore a simple dress, so servants of the house took him as a normal person. They did not take care of his needs or comfort at all. They gave him ordinary food. Sheikh Saadi did not say anything to anyone even though he felt very sad. And then somehow passed the night.
The next morning, he left the house, with the intention to go to court and stayed there.
On the way back home, he again took shelter in that nobleman’s house.
This time his dress was sophisticated. The nobleman greeted Sheikh Saadi sincerely and also welcomed him with due respect.
After some time, the servants came with rich food for him. Sheikh Saadi understood every situation, and why they were given so much respect and treated nicely. So, he took a strategy to teach them a good lesson. When he sat down to eat, a surprising thing happened.
Instead of eating the delicious foods. He began to put them into his pocket.
The noble man as well as his servants were astonished at this.
The nobleman asked gently “What are you doing Sir.”??
Sheikh Saadi replied, “ I’m doing the right thing.”
Some Days ago when I came to your house in a simple dress, no one could have taken care of me. Today I’m wearing an expensive dress for this reason you all are honoring me and serving rich food.
So, I think this food is worthy of dress, not me.
For this reason, I’m putting them into my pockets.
Hearing this, the nobleman finally understood his fault. He felt so guilty and begged Saadi’s pardon.
Moral of story
The thought, morality, and knowledge of a person have to be respected for all these qualities. Not based on clothing. The true greatness comes from within the human being that has nothing to do with clothing.

শেখ সাদীর জীবনকে আমরা চারভাগে ভাগ করতে পারি। যেমন:শিক্ষালাভ,দেশভ্রমণ, গ্রন্থরচনা,এবং সর্বশেষ আধাত্মিক চিন্তা ও সাধনা। মাত্র ত্রিশ বছর বয়সে তিনি তাফসির, হাদিস,ফিকাহ,সাহিত্য, দর্শন ইত্যাদি।
প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা শেষে, জ্ঞান লাভের জন্য তিনি ভ্রমণ করতেন। তিনি চেষ্টা করেছেন লোকদের সভ্যতার পথে ধাবিত করতে।অন্য রকম ব্যপার হলো,তিনি পায়ে হেঁটে দেশ ভ্রমণ করতেন।
তিনি পারস্য, আরব্য,মিশর,ফিলিপাইন, তুর্কি,ইরাক,আফ্রিকা আরো অনেক দেশ।
যার ফলে,তিনি ১৮ ভাষার উপর পাণ্ডিত্য লাভ করেছিলেন। বিভিন্ন দেশ ভ্রমণের মধ্যো দিয়ে তিনি অর্জন করেছিলেন নানান রকম জ্ঞান, অবলোকন করেছিলেন জাতির উথানের ইতিহাস।
তিনি চারপাশের প্রতিটি বিষয়ের উপর আলাদা দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে চিন্তা করার ক্ষমতা রাখে।মানুষের সাথে মিশে যেতে পারতেন। শেখ সাদীর লিখার ক্ষমতা ছিল অসাধারণ। তাঁর কাব্যগ্রন্থে রয়েছে মানুষের নৈতিক চরিত্র গঠনের অমূল্য বাণী।
উনার ভাষা, কথার মাধুর্য পাঠকের হৃদয় ছুয়ে যেত।

শেখ সাদী ছিলেন ইরানের একজন বিখ্যাত লেখক। তার জীবনধারণ ছিল অত্যন্ত সাধারণ। তিনি ভ্রমণ করতে ভালবাসতেন।একদিন, ইরানের রাজদরবারে যাওয়ার উদ্দেশ্য সম্ভ্রান্ত এক পরিবারে আশ্রয় নেন। সাধারণভাবে চলাফেরা করার জন্য, তিনি সাধারণ পোষাক পরিধান করতেই স্বাচ্ছন্দ বোধ করতেন।যেহেতু তিনি সাধারণ পোষাকে ছিলেন,তাই সেই বাড়ির চাকর তাঁর প্রতি বিশেষ মনোভাব রাখেনি।কোন রকম আতিথেয়তা দেখানোর প্রয়োজন বোধ করেনি। সাদামাটা খাবার দিল রাতের জন্য। শেখ সাদী সকল বিষয়েই লক্ষ করেছিল। তাঁর মন ভীষণ খারাপ হলেও কাউকে কিছুই বলেন নি।
পরের দিন সকালে,আদালতের উদ্দেশ্য বাসা থেকে বের হয়ে যান এবং সেখানেই অবস্থান করেন। বাড়ি ফেরার পথে আবার সেই সম্ভ্রান্ত পরিবারের বাড়িতে আশ্রয় নেন।এবার তাঁর পোশাকে ছিল আভিজাত্যো ছাপ।সেই ধনী ব্যক্তিটি এবার শেখ সাদীকে আন্তরিকভাবে অভিবাদন জানান।সম্মান প্রদর্শন করেন।কিছুক্ষণ পর,বাড়ির চাকররা দামি খাবার দিয়ে টেবিল সাজিয়ে ফেলল।শেখ সাদী প্রতিটি বিষয় গভীরভাবে লক্ষ করছিলেন এবং বুঝতে পারছিলেন কেন তাকে এতোটা সম্মান দেওয়া হচ্ছিল। তাই তিনি উচিৎ শিক্ষা দেওয়ার জন্য একটি কৌশল অবলম্বন করলেন। খেতে বসার পর,তিনি সেই সুস্বাদু দামী খাবার গুলো,নিজে না খেয়ে পকেটে ভরতে শুরু করলেন।এমন কান্ড দেখে,সেই ধনী লোক আর বাড়ির চাকররা অনেক অবাক হয়ে গেলো।তখন সেই ধনী ব্যক্তিটি ভদ্রভাবে শেখ সাদী জিজ্ঞেস করলেন ‘কী করছেন স্যার?আপনি না খেয়ে খাবার পকেটে রাখছেন কেন??
সাদী উত্তর দিলেন , ‘আমি সঠিক কাজটি করছি।কিছু দিন আগে যখন সাধারণ পোষাকে আপনার বাসায় এসেছিলাম,তখন আমার প্রতি আপনাদের আচরণ ছিল অসন্তোষ্টজনক, অপমানমূলক।কিন্তুু আজকে,আমাকে এতো সম্মান দেখাচ্ছেন, দামী খাবার খেতে দিয়েছেন। কিন্তুু তা আমার জন্য নয়,বরং আমার পোশাকের জন্য। তাই আমি পকেটে খাবার গুলো ভরছি এটা তার প্রাপ্য। এই কথা শুনে,ধনী ব্যক্তিটি লজ্জিত হলেন এবং নিজের ভুল উপলব্ধি করে অনুশোচনা বোধ করলেন এবং শেখ সাদীর নিকট ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করলেন।
গল্পের নৈতিকতা।
মানুষের চিন্তা, নৈতিকতা,জ্ঞান এই সকল মানবীয় গুণাবলির মানুষেকে সম্মান করতে হয়।পোশাকের উপর ভিত্তি করে নয়।সত্যিকারের মহানতা মানুষের ভিতর থেকেই আসে যার সাথে পোশাকের কোন সম্পর্ক নেই।
